Eid ul-Fitr 2025 in Pakistan: Holiday Declared
The holiday declaration and surge in demand for new currency notes come as Pakistan prepares to celebrate Eidul Fitr 2025, a significant occasion for Muslims around the world, marked by Eidi distribution and other festivities, with the government and banks working to facilitate the public's needs during this period.

The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on April 4 to commemorate the 46th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, just two days after the conclusion of Eidul Fitr holidays on April 2.
All government offices, autonomous bodies, and educational institutions will remain closed on April 4, except for essential services. This move is a tribute to the late leader, who was conferred the Nishan-e-Pakistan award by President Asif Ali Zardari. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a key figure in Pakistan's politics, serving as the country's prime minister and founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
As Eidul Fitr 2025 approaches, the demand for new currency notes surges, with many visiting banks to obtain crisp bills for Eidi distribution. Bank officials confirm that obtaining new currency notes is a straightforward process, requiring only a copy of the CNIC to request new notes, which are issued immediately if available. However, the limited stock of new notes depletes rapidly, often within days of arrival.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) allocates a fixed number of bundles to commercial banks, which are then distributed to customers, with a limit of Rs 16,000 to Rs 18,000 per customer. With the public holiday declared on April 4, citizens will have ample time to prepare for Eidul Fitr 2025 and visit banks to obtain new currency notes, if needed.
