Pakistan has announced a three-day holiday for Eidul Fitr from March 31 to April 2, with the exact date of the festival to be determined by the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal, expected to occur on March 30.

The announcement was made on March 19, 2025, by the Cabinet Division, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department has given a 50% chance of moon sighting on this date. The moon is set to be born on March 29 at 3:58pm and will be approximately 27 hours old by the time of sighting on March 30, increasing the chances of its visibility.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on March 30 to sight the Shawwal moon, and the federal government has announced public holidays from March 31 to April 2. Railways have also announced special trains to facilitate travel before and after Eidul Fitr, making it easier for people to celebrate the festival with their loved ones.

Eidul Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is a significant festival in the Islamic lunar calendar. The decision to declare holidays during this time aims to give students, teachers, and parents a well-deserved break after completing midterm exams during Ramadan, as seen in the recent announcement by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah in another country.

As the country prepares to celebrate Eidul Fitr, the government's announcement of public holidays and special train services is expected to bring relief and joy to many, allowing them to observe the festival with their families and friends.
