Eid ul Adha in Pakistan 2025: Four-Day Holiday Announced

The holiday announcement has been made to facilitate the public in observing the sacred festival, and the government has ensured that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a peaceful and joyful celebration of Eid ul Adha in Pakistan 2025.

The federal government of Pakistan has announced a four-day public holiday from June 6-9, 2025, to celebrate Eidul Azha, with the Eid falling on June 7, 2025, as announced by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee.

The Cabinet Division made the decision to observe the holiday on the occasion of Eidul Azha, which marks the culmination of Haj, one of the five pillars of Islam. The moon sighting for Eidul Azha was announced by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee's chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, on May 29, after a meeting in Islamabad.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has also announced that it will be closed from June 6 to 9 due to Eid ul Adha public holidays, and all banks, microfinance lenders, and other financial institutions will observe the holidays. The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has also announced a four-day public holiday for Eid-ul-Azha, to be observed from June 6 to June 9.

Eid ul Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of Zil Hajj, marking the Hajj pilgrimage and commemorating the story of Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son. The festival is observed with prayers, family gatherings, charitable acts, and the ritual sacrifice of livestock, with the meat distributed to relatives, friends, and the underprivileged.

The four-day holiday is expected to bring joy and celebration to the people of Pakistan, allowing them to observe the sacred festival with their loved ones and engage in acts of kindness and generosity.
