The federal government has announced four public holidays for Eid ul-Adha, allowing citizens to celebrate the festival with their families without work-related concerns, with the holidays to be observed from June 6-9, 2025.

The decision, approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aims to enable people to observe religious rituals and enjoy the celebrations. The holidays will be observed across the country, boosting social and family gatherings during Eid. Eidul Azha, which marks the culmination of Haj, a pilgrimage to Mecca, will be observed on June 7, 2025, as announced by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee last month.

The committee's chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, said that the decision was made after no testimony of moon sighting was received from any part of Pakistan, due to cloudy weather in most areas. The holiday will provide a break for citizens to celebrate the festival, which is one of the five pillars of Islam. The festival is celebrated with prayers, family gatherings, and charitable acts, including the ritual sacrifice of livestock.

The announcement of the holidays is expected to bring joy and relief to citizens, who can now plan their celebrations and family gatherings without worrying about work. The government's decision is seen as a move to promote social and family bonding, and to allow citizens to observe their religious rituals with ease and convenience.
