Eid Ul Adha Holidays in Pakistan 2025: Early Salaries

The early salary disbursement will enable employees to prepare for the festival, which is expected to take place on either June 6 or 7, depending on the moon sighting. The government's move is a positive step towards supporting its employees during the holy month of Zul-Hijjah.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced that it will disburse salaries and pensions to all provincial government employees by May 30, ahead of the possible Eid-ul-Adha holidays in Pakistan, to ensure smooth financial operations during the festival period.

The decision to pay salaries early is due to June 1 falling on a Sunday, a non-working day, and the subsequent closure of banks, which could have caused delays in financial transactions. The Finance Department has directed all provincial departments to process payments by May 30, allowing employees to receive their salaries before the Eid holidays, expected to take place in the first week of June.

The date of Eid-ul-Adha depends on the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs has called a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on May 27 to determine the beginning of Zul-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. An astronomer has forecasted that the moon is more likely to be visible on May 28, suggesting that Eid may be celebrated on June 7.

The early payment of salaries and pensions is a welcome move for provincial government employees, who can now make preparations for the festival without financial worries. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's decision aims to facilitate public servants and ensure a smooth and enjoyable Eid-ul-Adha celebration for all.
