Eidul Azha, a significant Islamic holiday, is expected to be celebrated on June 7, as the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee prepares to sight the Zilhaj moon on May 27 in Islamabad, marking the start of the holy month of Dhul Hijjah.

The committee's chairman, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, will preside over the meeting, with zonal committees meeting separately to confirm the sighting. According to the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), the new moon for Zilhaj will occur on May 27, indicating Eidul Azha will be celebrated on June 7. The Hajj pilgrimage, a sacred duty for Muslims, is set to begin on June 4-9, with Eid-ul-Adha on June 6, subject to the sighting of the crescent moon by Saudi Arabian authorities.

Preparations are underway at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, with the Mataf now capable of hosting up to 107,000 pilgrims per hour. Authorities have streamlined access points, designated specific entrances for pilgrims, and dedicated the entire Mataf exclusively for circumambulation. The Hajj pilgrimage has begun with 961,903 pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia, with airports being the most common entry point.

As Eid-ul-Adha 2025 approaches, Muslims around the world, including those in Pakistan, are preparing to celebrate this significant holiday, which marks the culmination of Haj, one of Islam's five pillars. The holiday is a time for faith, unity, and worship, with the message of Hajj remaining timeless: faith unites us, humility elevates us, and in worship, we find profound peace.
