Pakistan Railways has announced a special train schedule for Eid ul-Fitr, with five trains running from March 31 to April 2, offering various classes, including economy, AC business, and AC standard, to facilitate passengers during the holidays.
The government has declared March 31 to April 2 as public holidays for Eid ul-Fitr, and the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on March 30 to sight the Shawwal moon, determining the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid celebrations. Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced the launch of special Eid trains on the directives of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
In a bid to provide relief to the public on the occasion of Eid, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has announced a 20% reduction in train fares for Eidul Fitr. The reduction will apply to all mail, express, and intercity passenger trains, but not special Eid trains. The minister has assured that all safety arrangements and the quality of train services will be maintained.
The security of trains in Balochistan has been beefed up following an incident on the Jaffar Express, with the number of security personnel on each train increased to 22, including 11 from the FC and 11 from Railway police. Additionally, drone surveillance will be launched for all train operations in Balochistan, and CCTV cameras are being installed at railway stations and other sensitive locations.
