Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has vowed to build 0.5 million houses in five years under the 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' program, aiming to provide affordable housing to low-income families, with over 9,600 houses nearing completion in various districts of Punjab.

The program, which has seen a 100% repayment rate of loans taken, has been a key initiative of the government to support deserving individuals and improve living conditions for low-income communities. The Chief Minister has directed authorities to improve and rehabilitate 23 previous housing schemes in 19 districts and release funds for the purpose, demonstrating her commitment to meeting the goal by March.

The 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' program is part of the government's broader vision to ensure shelter for the homeless across the province. With the target of constructing 500,000 houses over the next five years, the government aims to provide roofs to homeless people and improve their overall living conditions. The progress of the program has been promising, with 9,661 houses near completion in Punjab.

As the program continues to progress, it is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of individuals and families, providing them with affordable and secure housing.
