CM Punjab Loan Scheme: Homes Handed Over
In a significant move to address the housing crisis in Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has inaugurated the 'Zahra Homes' project, handing over 100 homes to entitled families under the 'Apna Ghar Apni Chhat' housing scheme, which provides interest-free loans for housing to low-income families across the province.
The 'Apna Ghar Apni Chhat' scheme, launched in August last year, aims to provide 1 lac houses to people in a year and 5 lac families will have their own homes in five years. The scheme is part of the Punjab government's efforts to address the issue of 2.2 million families in the province without their own homes. The 'Zahra Homes' project, worth Rs 1.5 million, offers 100% loans on easy conditions, with plots of 1-10 marlas and houses for life, repayable in 7-year installments of Rs 14,000 per month.
The houses, built using TREND EPS Smart Panel Technology, are earthquake-resistant, energy-efficient, and environmentally sustainable, with each unit featuring 400 square feet of space, two bedrooms, one kitchen, one bathroom, and a courtyard. The community will also have access to a school, playground, mosque, and dispensary. The Punjab government is also providing free residential plots to deserving people to build houses, with 3 marla plots for thousands of deserving and poor people, along with other benefits such as free furniture, appliances, and free electricity and gas connections.
The initiative is part of the Chief Minister's vision to solve the housing issue in Punjab, responding to the problems people are facing, and fulfilling the vision of her father Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. With the 'Apna Ghar Apni Chhat' scheme and the 'Zahra Homes' project, the Punjab government aims to provide affordable housing to low-income families and improve their living standards.
