Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched an e-portal for the 'Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar' programme, aiming to provide free 3-marla plots to homeless individuals in the province, with 2000 plots to be allocated in 23 housing schemes across 19 districts.

The programme is part of the government's vision to provide shelter to homeless people, with over 34,000 houses being built in a short period of six months. The government has allocated Rs. 36 billion for the programme and has set a three-month grace period for the construction of houses. Eligible applicants must hold permanent residence status in Punjab, be a native of the district where they are applying, not own any property in Pakistan, have a clean criminal record, and not be a bank or financial institution defaulter.

Applications can be submitted online through the official portal, and plots will be selected through a draw. Those selected will also receive loans for house construction. The programme aims to ensure every citizen has access to basic housing, with the Chief Minister reaffirming the government's commitment to housing for all. Successful applicants must start construction within six months and complete it within two years, with plots being non-transferable or sellable for five years.

The launch of the e-portal marks a significant step towards providing shelter to the homeless and underprivileged in Punjab, and the government's efforts to address the housing needs of its citizens. With the 'Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar' programme, the government aims to make a positive impact on the lives of thousands of people, providing them with a sense of security and dignity.
