Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Expected in India
The week's highlight will be the season's first major rainfall on June 29 with over 41mm of precipitation, and the IMD has issued a yellow alert for rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in New Delhi on Wednesday, urging residents to be prepared for the changing weather conditions.

New Delhi is bracing for a significant weather shift, with rain chances surging and heavy downpours predicted from June 28-29, offering relief from the heat but potentially causing disruptions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert warning of heavy rain in many parts of western, central, eastern, and southern India over the next few days. Heavy monsoon showers have already disrupted normal life across several states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Kerala. The temperature in New Delhi is expected to drop to 37.3°C on June 26 with an 88% chance of rain, and further decrease to 28.4-31°C on June 28-29.
The Southwest monsoon has been slow to reach the capital, but conditions are favorable for its advance over parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh in the next 36 hours. The city is expected to receive light rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) tonight, with maximum temperatures ranging from 33-35°C and minimums between 26-28°C.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain across Delhi-NCR for June 25 and 26, with thunderstorms and lightning likely to persist. A series of cyclonic circulations and troughs are influencing the weather conditions, and no heatwave conditions are expected over the next week, bringing much-needed relief to the region.
