Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar are expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds of 50-60 kmph on Saturday and Sunday due to a yellow alert issued by the IMD. A cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea off the Karnataka coast on May 21 developed into a low-pressure area near the Karnataka coast on May 22, triggering the alert.
Heavy rainfall has been recorded across Maharashtra, particularly in Konkan and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, and is expected to continue till May 25. The IMD has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in various parts of the country in the coming days, with some states experiencing heavy rains and others facing scorching heatwaves. A heatwave alert has been issued for Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, western Rajasthan, and eastern Rajasthan.
