A heavy to very heavy rainfall warning has been issued for 26 states and union territories across India, including Assam, Meghalaya, and Delhi, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a thunderstorm and cloudy skies for the next few days.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in several states, including western and eastern Rajasthan, western and eastern Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. Other states under orange alert include Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. A yellow alert has been issued for Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Sikkim.

Delhi witnessed a sudden shift in weather on Saturday afternoon after heavy showers swept across several parts of the national capital, bringing temperatures down. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 35°C. The city is likely to experience cloudy skies, accompanied by moderate to light rains for the next 6-7 days. The IMD has forecasted cloudy skies, moderate to heavy rains, thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds for June 22-23, and cloudy skies, light rains with thunderstorm, lightning for June 24-27.

The rain has brought relief to the city, with Delhi recording "satisfactory" air quality with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 82. The heavy rainfall warning has been issued for several states, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
