Rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are expected to hit from May 30-31, with temperatures remaining below normal, as Delhi experiences its wettest May ever with 186.4 mm of rainfall, and Mumbai struggles with floods.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms, and winds of up to 60 kmph during this period, bringing much-needed relief from the heat, but also causing disruptions in daily life. Unlike last year, when there were six consecutive heatwave days, this May has not recorded a single heatwave day due to frequent rain and storms.

Delhi has received a significant amount of rainfall, making it the city's wettest May ever, with five major storms hitting the city this month. The most recent storm occurred on May 25, bringing 81.4 mm of rainfall and winds of 82 kmph. The weather has also improved Delhi's air quality, with the AQI improving to 97 in the satisfactory category on Monday.

However, the situation has worsened in Mumbai, with the city being submerged in floods due to severe weather conditions. The scheduled arrival of the monsoon is still far away, but the unpredictable weather has already caused significant damage. The recent storm and tornado in Delhi-NCR were followed by a flood in Mumbai, highlighting the need for preparedness and emergency response measures.

As the month of May comes to a close, the weather is expected to remain unpredictable, with June and July still to come. It is essential for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
