Weather Today: Heavy Rain Alert Issued for 15 Indian States
The IMD's predictions indicate a significant dip in maximum temperatures over northwest India, a gradual drop in daytime temperatures over central India, and light to moderate rainfall across most parts of Gujarat and eastern and central India, with cloudy weather and heavy rainfall expected in Guwahati for the next two-three days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for 15 states in India, including Lakshadweep, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, for a week starting June 15, with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds also predicted in some areas.
The states expected to receive heavy rain include Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, North Interior Karnataka, and others, with heavy rain also predicted in parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa. In addition to heavy rain, light to moderate rain is expected in several states, including coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and others.
Rajasthan is expected to experience thunderstorms in many places, with winds blowing at a speed of 50-60 kmph to 70 kmph, and there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in eastern Rajasthan on June 15, 20-21. The IMD has also predicted that Delhi will experience light to moderate rain with thunderstorms for the next few days.
The southwest monsoon is expected to advance over parts of Gujarat, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha in the next 24 hours, and spread to parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and East Uttar Pradesh over the following three days. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is forecast in Konkan, Goa, and parts of Gujarat from June 15-21.
The heavy rainfall has already started to affect some areas, with nine districts in Kerala and several parts of Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, and Shivamogga districts in Karnataka experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall, prompting the issuance of a red alert and the closure of schools as a precautionary measure.
