Eid Holidays in UAE Announced for Public Sector
The holiday duration will depend on the moon sighting, with varying lengths of breaks for public sector employees across the UAE, including a potential six-day holiday for some employees in Sharjah, and the announcement has been made to facilitate planning and celebrations for the end of Ramadan.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources in the UAE has announced the Eid Al Fitr holiday dates for public sector employees, with the holiday beginning on Shawwal 1 and ending on Shawwal 3, corresponding to the Gregorian calendar, depending on the moon sighting scheduled for March 29.
Egyptian and Emirati astronomers have predicted that the Shawwal moon could be sighted on March 29 in 30 cities worldwide, including major Islamic cities such as Mecca, Medina, and Karachi. If the moon is visible, Eid al-Fitr is expected to be celebrated on March 30, but if it's not, it will be observed on March 31. The holiday duration will vary depending on the moon sighting, with a four-day holiday from March 30 to April 1 if spotted on March 29, and a five-day holiday from March 31 to April 2 if it's not spotted.
The UAE's announcement of Eid Al Fitr holidays for the federal government sector will see work resume on 4th Shawwal. If Ramadan concludes with 30 days, the 30th of Ramadan will be an additional public holiday, extending the break. Some government employees in Sharjah will get a six-day holiday, making it a longer break for them compared to other parts of the UAE.
The Eid Al Fitr holiday marks the end of Ramadan and is a significant occasion for Muslims around the world. The UAE's announcement provides clarity on the holiday dates for public sector employees, allowing them to plan their celebrations and breaks accordingly. The moon sighting on March 29 will be crucial in determining the exact dates of the holiday.
