Rawalpindi Weather Brings Rain, Snowfall to Pakistan

The weather system's impact on the country's agricultural sector and daily life will be closely monitored, with authorities taking necessary measures to mitigate any potential disruptions, as the country experiences a mix of rain, snowfall, and warm weather in different regions.

Updated :

A western weather system has entered Pakistan's upper regions, bringing rain and snowfall to various parts of the country, with strong winds and rainfall expected in Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sargodha.

The system is predicted to cause light to moderate showers in Multan, Sahiwal, and Bahawalnagar, while snowfall is expected in the mountainous regions of Murree, Galiyat, and the north, with temperatures expected to drop. Authorities have warned of potential travel disruptions due to snowfall in these areas, advising tourists to remain extra cautious and avoid unnecessary traveling during the period.

Peshawar and its surrounding districts are also expected to experience intermittent rain and strong winds, with snowfall predicted in Chitral, Swat, Malam Jabba, and Parachinar. In contrast, Karachi is expected to remain warm, with temperatures peaking at 32°C, despite being mostly cloudy, as the city prepares to host the ICC Champions Trophy.

The Pakistan Met Office has forecast rain and snowfall in the upper parts of the country from February 19 to 21, with a frontal weather system expected to enter the upper parts of the country on February 19 and persist in the northern areas till February 21. The weather system is expected to be beneficial for standing crops in barani areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

While the weather system brings much-needed precipitation to the country, there is a possibility of landslides/avalanches in hilly areas, and dry weather is expected in most parts of Sindh. Citizens are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
