Updated :

Pakistan's Meteorological Department has forecasted rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from April 8 to 11 due to a new western weather system, bringing relief to the region, while Sindh continues to experience a severe heatwave with temperatures crossing 46°C in several cities.

The western weather system is expected to affect the upper parts of the country, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with rainfall also forecasted in Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, and northeast Punjab. Intermittent rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, and Chakwal, providing a much-needed respite from the heat. The department has warned of dust-raising winds in plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and upper Sindh.

In contrast, Sindh is experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures crossing 46°C in five cities, including Mohenjo Daro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Paddidan, Dadu, and Khairpur. Karachi had a relatively cooler day with temperatures dropping to 36°C from 40°C the previous day. Meteorologist Anjum Nazeer Zaigham attributed the heatwave to a low-pressure area over upper Sindh, parts of Balochistan, southern Punjab, and Rajasthan.

The heatwave is expected to persist in Sindh for a few more days, with temperatures likely to rise again after subsiding. According to the Met department, day-time temperatures are expected to be 5-7°C above normal in most parts of Sindh on Tuesday and Wednesday. The department has advised people to avoid unnecessary sun exposure and stay hydrated, while farmers have been urged to plan their agricultural activities according to the expected weather conditions.

As the weather conditions continue to fluctuate across the country, citizens are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts to ensure their safety and well-being.
