Chaman Weather Brings Heavy Snowfall
Pakistan's northern and northwestern regions are experiencing harsh weather conditions, with strong winds, gusts, rainfall, and snowfall forecasted, and dense to heavy fog predicted in Punjab and upper Sindh. The weather has already affected multiple towns and cities in Balochistan, including Quetta and surrounding areas.
The severe weather has caused power and gas outages in residential areas of Quetta, exacerbating the difficult conditions. Icy Siberian winds have further worsened the situation, with tourist spots like Hanna and Urak Valleys receiving heavy snowfall and attracting locals. Vehicles and motorcyclists have flocked to the Lakpass Tunnel area in Chiltan Valley, which has also witnessed heavy snowfall.
Several areas in and around Quetta have received snowfall, including Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Muslim Bagh, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Pishin, Toba Achakzai, and Toba Kakari. Rainfall has been reported in Quetta, Mastung, Chaman, Pishin, Kalat, Harnai, Zhob, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Kharan, Kech, Panjgur, Turbat, Gwadar, and Jiwani. The heavy snowfall has caused traffic disruptions, with the Quetta-Chaman highway blocked due to snow accumulation, and connecting roads in Chaman and Qila Abdullah also blocked.
The harsh weather conditions are expected to continue, with the forecast predicting more snowfall and rainfall in the coming days. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay safe during this time. The authorities are working to clear the roads and restore power and gas supplies to the affected areas.
