Weather Update Islamabad: Rain, Snowfall Expected
The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted rainfall and snowfall in the next 24 hours, also affecting Rawalakot and surrounding areas, while Islamabad and Rawalpindi experienced pleasant weather, with citizens flocking to recreational spots, and the Agriculture Department seeing the rain as beneficial for crops.

Peshawar received intermittent rainfall on Tuesday as a westerly wave entered the country, causing low-lying areas to be submerged and power outages in several neighborhoods, with the Meteorological Department predicting continued rain and snowfall in hill stations over the next three days.
The rain caused 9mm of rainfall in Peshawar, leading to severe traffic congestion on GT Road, with delays lasting two to three hours. The cold weather has led to an increase in demand for hot snacks, with markets witnessing a rush for pakoras and samosas in the evenings. Snowfall in mountainous areas has compounded difficulties for locals, but the Agriculture Department has termed the rain beneficial for crops.
The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has issued an advisory for rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall in northern and western parts of Pakistan from February 25 to March 1. Islamabad, upper Punjab, Potohar region, central, southern and northeastern Punjab are expected to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms with snowfall or hailstorms. Heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods in vulnerable areas.
The National Disaster Monitoring Authority (NDMA) is monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure timely response and mitigation efforts. Authorities have issued warnings regarding the potential hazards associated with this weather system, particularly the risk of heavy snowfall in Murree, Galliyat, and other northern regions.
