The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has cautioned the public against fake courier messages that ask users to enter verification codes, which can be exploited for unauthorized access to personal accounts.

According to PTA, legitimate courier companies do not require recipients to input codes for parcel delivery, and users should verify the authenticity of such messages before responding. This warning comes as banks also advise customers to never share OTP codes with anyone claiming to represent their bank or the central bank.

The scam involves fraudulent messages, disguised as courier service notifications, asking users to share verification codes. PTA clarified that sharing these codes can lead to serious security breaches, including financial loss and unauthorized access to sensitive data. The authority has urged the public to exercise caution when sharing codes via SMS or messaging apps.

As the public becomes increasingly aware of the risks associated with sharing sensitive information, it is essential to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect personal data. By being cautious and verifying the authenticity of messages, individuals can help prevent falling victim to such scams.
