Pakistan's telecom subscriber base has crossed the 200 million mark, with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announcing the achievement and citing 150 million broadband and over 2 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) subscribers. To commemorate this milestone, the PTA and mobile operators are offering free 2GB data and 200 on-net minutes to all mobile users.
The PTA has also collaborated with mobile manufacturers to distribute 200 locally assembled smartphones among female SIM owners, aiming to bridge the digital gender gap and enhance women's participation in the digital economy. Furthermore, free Wi-Fi hotspots are being deployed at select universities to promote digital inclusion, especially for female students.
