PTA Introduces Tax-Free Mobile Registration for Overseas Pakistanis
This initiative aims to provide uninterrupted mobile connectivity for those staying in Pakistan for a short duration, and with the automated system in place, overseas Pakistanis can now enjoy hassle-free mobile services during their visits, making it easier for them to stay in touch with loved ones and navigate their way around the country.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a Temporary Mobile Registration System, allowing overseas Pakistanis to register their mobile phones for free when visiting home, with the facility available through the DIRBS portal for up to 120 days.
This initiative is a significant development for the Pakistani community living abroad, particularly in the UAE, where a large number of Pakistanis reside and frequently travel back to Pakistan. The system is fully automated, eliminating the need for registration at airports or waiting in queues, and ensures that mobile phones remain connected throughout the visit.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced this 120-day tax-free mobile registration facility to provide seamless mobile connectivity to visitors during their short stays in Pakistan. The PTA is facilitating this service through its Temporary Mobile Registration System, available on the DIRBS portal, and overseas Pakistanis can register their mobile devices tax-free for 120 days per visit.
The introduction of this tax-free Temporary Mobile Registration System is expected to greatly benefit overseas Pakistanis, allowing them to stay connected with family and friends during their visits to Pakistan without incurring additional costs or facing the risk of their mobile phones being blocked.
