This development marks a significant step towards digital development in Pakistan, with modern solutions like satellite internet set to improve connectivity in the country, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

Pakistan has granted a temporary registration to Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet services, paving the way for improved internet infrastructure and bridging the digital divide in underserved regions.

The approval came after thorough consultations and consensus among security and regulatory bodies, with Information Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja confirming the development. The temporary registration was granted following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's guidance, and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will ensure Starlink adheres to the country's regulatory framework.

The registration is seen as a significant milestone in Pakistan's digital transformation journey, aiming to enhance internet infrastructure and bridge the digital divide in underserved and remote regions. Starlink, a satellite internet provider owned by Elon Musk, has been granted a temporary No Objection Certificate (NOC) to operate in Pakistan.

The IT ministry announced that Starlink was issued a temporary registration with the consensus of all security and regulatory agencies. IT Minister Shaza Fatima said the move is a "big step" towards improving Pakistan's internet services and IT infrastructure, as per Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's instructions.

The PTA is expected to issue a license within four weeks, after which Starlink will take a year to launch its services in the country, operating at an altitude of 250 to 500 kilometers to ensure high-speed internet connectivity.
