Pakistan Reaches 200 Million Mobile Users Milestone
With women now accounting for 38% of mobile internet users, the telecom sector is playing a vital role in promoting digital inclusion and empowering females through technology, and the launch of 5G internet services is expected to further accelerate this growth.

Pakistan has achieved a significant milestone in digital growth, reaching 200 million telecom subscribers, including 150 million broadband users and over 2 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) users, with mobile operators offering free data and minutes to celebrate.
The country's telecom sector has shown remarkable growth, with broadband penetration increasing from 53.6% in June 2023 to 60.8% by June 2025. The number of female mobile internet users has also seen a significant rise, now accounting for 38% of total mobile internet users, up from 25% last year. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is promoting digital inclusion, particularly among female students, by deploying free Wi-Fi hotspots at selected universities and donating smartphones to female SIM card holders.
IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja has reaffirmed the government's commitment to launching 5G internet services in Pakistan, stating that work on the project is ongoing. The launch of 5G internet services is expected to further boost the country's digital growth and provide faster and more reliable internet connectivity to users. To celebrate the milestone, mobile operators are offering 2GB free data and 200 on-net minutes to all users on June 20, 2025.
The achievement of this milestone is a testament to Pakistan's growing digital landscape and the government's efforts to promote digital inclusion and connectivity. As the country moves forward with plans to launch 5G internet services, it is expected to have a positive impact on the economy and society, providing opportunities for growth and development.
