The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a four-day closure from June 6 to June 9 to observe Eidul Azha, resulting in the suspension of operations for all commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and other financial entities nationwide.

The decision follows the federal government's notification declaring a four-day public holiday for Eid ul Azha, which will be celebrated on June 7. Eidul Azha commemorates the Quranic story of Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God and is marked by special prayers, family gatherings, acts of charity, and the ritual sacrifice of livestock.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will also be closed from June 6 to June 9, 2025, due to Eid-ul-Adha public holidays. The Sindh government has declared a four-day public holiday from June 6 to June 9, 2025, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, applicable to all government offices, autonomous bodies, and local councils under the provincial government's administrative control.

Essential services will remain operational during this period, ensuring that the public's basic needs are met. Eid-ul-Adha is a significant Islamic festival marked by communal prayers, animal sacrifice, and the distribution of meat among family, friends, and the underprivileged, and its observance is a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration.
