Weather Peshawar: Scattered Showers Expected Across Pakistan
The predicted rainfall and heatwaves will have a significant impact on the country's climate, with some regions experiencing above-normal rainfall and others facing heatwaves and flooding. The Pakistan Meteorological Department's weather alert for thunderstorms with heavy rain across Punjab and other parts of the country serves as a reminder for citizens to be prepared for the changing weather conditions.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across various parts of Pakistan, including upper Sindh, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, bringing relief from the high temperatures experienced over the past 24 hours.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted normal to above-normal rainfall from May to July, with a risk of heatwaves and localized flooding. Most parts of the country experienced normal or below-normal rainfall between February and April, with southern Balochistan and Sindh receiving significantly less precipitation. The central and southern regions, including northeast Punjab, are expected to receive slightly above-normal rainfall, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir may see below-average rain.
Heatwaves are predicted in southern Punjab and Sindh, while there is a likelihood of flooding in Sindh, Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in June and July. Rising temperatures in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir will accelerate snowmelt, leading to increased river flows. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has cautioned that lightning risk remains elevated during this period, and rain and strong winds have disrupted normal life in several districts, including Lahore and Islamabad.
The weather forecast suggests that the country will experience a mix of hot and dry weather, along with scattered showers and thunderstorms, over the next few months. Citizens are advised to stay informed about the weather conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety, especially during periods of heavy rain and strong winds.
