Weather Peshawar: Scattered Showers Expected Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted normal to above-normal rainfall from May to July, with a risk of heatwaves and localized flooding. Most parts of the country experienced normal or below-normal rainfall between February and April, with southern Balochistan and Sindh receiving significantly less precipitation. The central and southern regions, including northeast Punjab, are expected to receive slightly above-normal rainfall, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir may see below-average rain.
Heatwaves are predicted in southern Punjab and Sindh, while there is a likelihood of flooding in Sindh, Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in June and July. Rising temperatures in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir will accelerate snowmelt, leading to increased river flows. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has cautioned that lightning risk remains elevated during this period, and rain and strong winds have disrupted normal life in several districts, including Lahore and Islamabad.
The weather forecast suggests that the country will experience a mix of hot and dry weather, along with scattered showers and thunderstorms, over the next few months.
