Monsoon Weather Brings Relief to Pakistan
The pre-monsoon rainfall is expected to bring widespread relief from the severe heatwave, with the NDMA and PMD working together to ensure public safety and preparedness. The public is advised to stay informed about weather updates and to take necessary precautions to minimize the impact of the expected storms.

A new spell of rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms is expected to impact the upper and central regions of Pakistan until June 23, bringing relief from the severe heatwave. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory, warning of strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms that can pose a threat to vulnerable structures.
The affected areas include Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The NDMA has urged precautionary measures, advising the public to park vehicles in covered or secure areas and to remain vigilant due to reduced visibility during storms. The authority has also directed institutions to prepare for any possible emergency and has encouraged the public to stay informed about weather updates through the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert App.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain, thunderstorms, and dust storms in large parts of the country, with isolated areas likely to experience heavy rainfall and hailstorms. The rain is expected to develop due to moist currents from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, as well as a westerly wave entering the upper parts of the country. The areas expected to receive rain and thunderstorms include upper and central Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and upper Sindh.
The monsoon rains are expected to subside hot weather and bring much-needed relief to the country, replenishing water supplies crucial for agriculture and food security. However, the public is advised to take precautionary measures, as urban flooding may occur in low-lying areas of major cities, and possible damage to structures such as electric poles, trees, solar panels, and parked vehicles due to windstorms and lightning.
