Hafizabad Hit by Hailstorms, Damaging Wheat Crops
The hailstorms and heavy rain have caused significant damage to wheat crops, killed cattle, and disrupted daily life in Hafizabad and surrounding areas, with the Met office predicting more harsh weather conditions in the coming days, and the authorities advising citizens to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

Heavy rain and hailstorms have caused significant damage to wheat crops in Hafizabad, Narang Mandi, and Narowal areas, leaving farmers worried about their expected bumper crop, as several cattle have been killed due to the harsh weather conditions.
The Met office has predicted more hailstorms in the area, adding to the concerns of the farmers who have already suffered losses. The hailstorms have not only affected the crops but also caused fear and panic among the farmers. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has instructed deputy commissioners to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to deal with emergency situations.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted more rains, gusty winds, and snowfall in various parts of the country, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Citizens are advised to exercise caution during the inclement weather, stay away from electric poles and hanging wires, and seek shelter in safe places to minimize the risk of being struck by lightning.
The affected areas include Hafizabad town and its surrounding areas in Gujrat, which received heavy rain and hailstorm on Friday, causing damage to crops in rural areas. The downpour and hailstorm led to a significant drop in temperatures in the region, including Hafizabad, Mandi Bahuddin, and Wazirabad. Crops in villages such as Venike Tarrar, Laal ke, Dherann Ke, Channi Hanjrawa, Raam Ke Chatha, and Chak Kharal were affected by the hailstorm.
The intermittent heavy rain has been falling in Gujrat city and its surrounding areas for two consecutive days, causing water accumulation and inconvenience to residents. The rainwater accumulation also affected shopping activities ahead of the fasting month of Ramazan, adding to the woes of the people in the region.
