Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is on the verge of a season-long loan move to Barcelona, with a deal in principle agreed for an initial loan with an option to buy, marking a significant development in the player's future.

Rashford, 27, has been training away from the first-team squad at Old Trafford after being told by coach Ruben Amorim that he doesn't feature in Amorim's plans. The loan deal would see Barcelona cover Rashford's wages during the loan period, and the Catalan club would have the option to buy the player at the end of the season for a fee yet to be determined.

The move would be a significant positive for United as they look to strengthen their squad, with Rashford's departure saving the club a substantial amount on their wage bill. Rashford earns £325,000 a week and has three years remaining on his contract at United, where he has scored 138 goals in 426 games since making his debut in 2016.

Former Manchester United player Teddy Sheringham has expressed his disapproval of Rashford's potential move, labeling it "soul-destroying" and stating that the player has not deserved a move to Barcelona. However, Rashford has always preferred a move to Barcelona and has expressed his desire to play alongside teenage superstar Lamine Yamal at the club.

The deal is nearing completion, with United giving the green light for Rashford to open talks with the La Liga champions. The move would mark a new chapter in Rashford's career, and it remains to be seen how the player will perform at his new club.
