High-level visits to Kabul have highlighted diplomacy as the sole way ahead for regional stability and economic cooperation, with a focus on expanding trade and addressing global climate change mitigation efforts.

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met with Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, and Bakhtiyor Saidov, Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister, in separate meetings to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and regional stability. The meetings also focused on expanding trade, economic cooperation, and addressing regional security issues.

A key outcome of the meetings was the signing of the Framework Agreement on the Joint Feasibility Study for the Naibabad–Kharlachi rail link, which aims to build a rail link connecting Uzbekistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan. The project is expected to promote regional stability, growth, and development by facilitating regional trade and transit.

The visits are seen as a clear sign of growing international interest in practical cooperation with the Islamic Emirate, with political analysts hoping that these diplomatic efforts will lead to lasting prosperity for the people of the region. The renewed commitment to regional cooperation comes as the global community has pledged to address the pressing issue of climate change, with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) concluding with a renewed commitment to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

As Afghanistan and its neighbors move forward with diplomatic efforts, the international community will be closely watching the implementation of the Glasgow Climate Pact and its impact on regional stability and economic development. The success of these efforts will depend on the ability of countries to work together to address the pressing issues of climate change, regional security, and economic cooperation.
