Severe Weather Lahore: Heavy Rainfall and Flash Floods

Heavy monsoon rains in Pakistan have caused over 110 deaths, including 53 children, since late June, with electrocution being the leading cause of fatalities, while the world's largest active volcano, Mauna Loa, has erupted in Hawaii for the first time in nearly four decades, but the weather lahore and surrounding areas are expected to be severely affected by the monsoon rains.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in northern and eastern regions, predicting flash floods, urban flooding, landslides, and infrastructure damage. The dual weather system of monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, and a strong westerly wave, is expected to persist, intensifying rainfall across the country. At least six people, including four children, have died and one person was injured in rain-related incidents over the last 24 hours in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of a risk of flooding in several districts and directed district administrations to provide assistance to affected families and remain on high alert. Heavy rain is predicted to continue till July 17, with a low-pressure area over northwest India expected to affect Pakistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory, warning of rain-windstorms, thundershowers, and scattered heavy falls in several parts of the country.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported 111 monsoon-related deaths since late June, with electrocution being the leading cause of fatalities. The situation is being closely monitored, and the authorities are taking necessary measures to mitigate the effects of the heavy rainfall and flash floods, especially in the weather lahore and surrounding areas.
