Lahore Weather Brings Relief With Monsoon Rain
The monsoon rain has brought relief to the people of Lahore and surrounding areas, with the temperature dropping to 25 degrees Celsius, providing a pleasant change in the weather. The flood relief efforts are in place, with the district administration and Pakistan Army working together to ensure the safety of the people.

A spell of monsoon rain hit Lahore and surrounding areas on Monday, bringing pleasant weather and causing power outages in several areas due to tripped feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO). The rain, which marked the second spell of monsoon in the country, was also reported in various cities across the country, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Bahawalnagar, and Peshawar.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts that the spell of rain will continue until Thursday, with more rains expected due to monsoon currents penetrating from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. In preparation for potential flooding, Rawalpindi has declared a flood emergency, with the district administration setting up seven flood relief camps in vulnerable areas. The camps are equipped with food, medicine, shelter, and security arrangements, and a 24/7 control room has been established to monitor the situation.
The Pakistan Army's Triple One Brigade has been placed on red alert, and the flood relief camps are located in government schools near low-lying areas, with each classroom pre-equipped with bedding and essential supplies. The early warning flood alert system has been upgraded, and warning sirens will be activated if water levels in the Nullah Leh or stormwater drains reach dangerous points. Heavy rain lashed Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Sunday, bringing down the temperature and increasing water levels in Rawal and Khanpur dams.
The water level in Rawal Dam increased by 6.2 feet, while Khanpur Dam's water level rose by one foot, providing sufficient water to meet the requirements of the twin cities for 63 days. However, officials warn that water shortage may occur if there are no more rains in the catchment areas of the dams. The Lahore weather is expected to remain pleasant for the next few days, with the PMD forecasting more rain in the coming days.
