With a focus on improving operational efficiency and supporting national energy optimization, K-Electric's initiative is expected to have a positive impact on Karachi's economic growth, providing a reliable and transparent energy ecosystem for the industrial sector.

K-Electric has connected 23 industrial units to the national grid since July 2024, as part of its effort to shift the industrial sector away from captive power generation and improve operational efficiency for industries.

The company aims to support national energy optimisation by encouraging industries to transition from captive power plants to the national grid. Another 45 units are in the process of conversion, and many have increased their use of on-grid power. This initiative is in line with the government's policy to encourage industries to switch from captive power.

To prepare for expected demand growth, K-Electric is upgrading its transmission corridors and feeder infrastructure. The utility is also holding weekly "Open House" sessions with trade associations to support the transition, addressing customer concerns, and providing customized packages based on actual load requirements.

K-Electric's efforts aim to ensure a reliable, transparent, and business-friendly energy ecosystem that fuels Karachi's economic growth. The company is facilitating Karachi's manufacturing sector to shift from captive power plants to the electricity grid, with sustained momentum as more industries submit load-extension requests.

The successful connection of 23 industrial units to the national grid and the ongoing conversion of another 45 units demonstrate K-Electric's commitment to supporting the industrial sector and contributing to national energy optimization. As the utility continues to reinforce its infrastructure, it is well-positioned to accommodate the anticipated rise in industrial demand over the next 1-2 years.
