Uttarakhand Weather Update: Landslides and Flooding

The IMD issued a heavy rainfall alert for Uttarakhand for the next four days, and the Kedarnath Dham Yatra was temporarily halted after a landslide damaged the pedestrian track.
Dehradun residents are worried about the uncleared debris from last year's monsoon damage, which is causing severe flooding and property damage. Residents in localities such as Vivek Vihar, Mohkampur, and Chandrabani claim that debris and blocked drains remain uncleared, with many areas experiencing waterlogging. The municipal commissioner has assured that rubble is being cleaned manually and that teams will be alerted to clear drains before fresh rains.
Uttarakhand is bracing for heavy rain and thunderstorms, with a yellow alert issued for Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, and Bageshwar. The Meteorological Department predicts heavy rain in many areas, including Dehradun, and moderate rain in other districts. Landslides are likely on the Char Dham Yatra routes due to heavy rain. Recent rain in Dehradun and Mussoorie has brought relief from the heat, with Dehradun recording a drop of 2 degrees Celsius in maximum temperature.
