Lahore Named ECO Tourism Capital 2027

Lahore has been declared the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Tourism Capital for 2027, a prestigious title that will globally promote Pakistan's cultural and national heritage. A 25-member ECO delegation from 10 member countries will visit Lahore to make the official announcement and tour historical and key locations, including Mela Chiraghan, Walled City, and the Safe Cities Authority.
The visit is at the invitation of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who will host a meeting of the Council of Delegates at the Civil Secretariat and a formal luncheon at the Governor's House. The nomination highlights Lahore's rich historical, cultural, and architectural heritage, and reflects the Chief Minister's vision to showcase Lahore's identity to the international community.
Punjab Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said the opportunity is historic, and Lahore's designation as ECO's tourism capital will promote Pakistan's cultural and national heritage globally. The Council of Permanent Representatives of ECO will meet at the Civil Secretariat in Lahore to make the final decision, marking a significant milestone in the city's tourism industry.
