The project, which was given in-principle approval by a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to provide sustainable public transport and will be supported by government subsidies. Solar-powered systems will be installed for e-charging stations, making it an environmentally friendly option.

The meeting also reviewed the mass transit projects in the province, including the Yellow Line Mass Transit System. A feasibility report on the project was presented, and the Chief Minister directed the immediate start of the project from Jinnah Terminal to Harbanspura. The financial model for the e-taxi project was also approved, with a pilot phase of 1,100 electric taxis to be launched.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for route planning based on public convenience, ensuring that the new transportation system is accessible and convenient for citizens. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the environment and provide a reliable and affordable transportation option for the people of Lahore and other parts of the province.

The launch of the e-taxi pilot project and the expansion of the Yellow Line Mass Transit System are significant steps towards promoting sustainable urban transport in Punjab, and the government's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and providing eco-friendly transportation options is a welcome move.
