Lahore High Court Orders EV Charging Stations
The court's orders are a significant step towards addressing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable practices in the city. The establishment of electric vehicle charging stations, Miyawaki forests, and tax relief for eco-friendly buildings are expected to have a positive impact on the environment and public health.

The Lahore High Court has directed the installation of electric vehicle charging facilities at all fuel stations to tackle the smog issue, expressing dissatisfaction over the lack of effective measures to address environmental pollution. The court emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to reduce pollution and promote eco-friendly practices.
The court's directives include the installation of water meters, introduction of tax relief for eco-friendly buildings, restoration of canal water, and establishment of Miyawaki forests. The Lahore High Court also criticized the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for its poor performance in installing water meters and warned of emergency measures if the issue is not addressed. The court directed WASA to submit an updated report on the installation of 1,000 water meters by next Friday.
The court also took up a report from the Transport Department, which revealed that discussions were underway to convert loader rickshaws to electric power and proposed the conversion of metro stations into charging points. The court stressed the need to provide incentives to companies promoting electric vehicles and urged the government to formulate a policy to support the transition. The court suggested establishing Miyawaki forests in all housing societies, including Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Lahore Development Authority (LDA), and providing tax relief to individuals constructing environmentally friendly buildings.
The Lahore High Court adjourned the hearing for a week, seeking implementation reports from all relevant departments by next Friday. The court's directives aim to promote eco-friendly practices and reduce pollution in the city, and it is expected that the authorities will take immediate action to implement these measures.
