Nawaz Sharif Pushes for Lahore Heritage Restoration
The restoration plans include the preservation of 48 out of 75 colonial-era structures, as well as the Imperial Fort, tombs of Jahangir and Noor Jahan, and Shalamar Bagh, showcasing the government's commitment to protecting Lahore's rich history and cultural significance.

Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim League-N, has called for a comprehensive plan to restore Lahore's historic sites, emphasizing the need to preserve the city's cultural heritage while ensuring alternative spaces for affected businesses.
The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) recently hosted a heritage tour of five restored historic sites, including General Allard's Tomb, Bradlaugh Hall, Tomb of Anarkali, and Wazir Khan Baradari, to highlight the conservation work being done to preserve Lahore's cultural heritage. The tour concluded with an Iftar dinner at Wazir Khan Baradari, where around 60 visitors gathered to appreciate the city's rich history.
Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, where he criticized the neglect of Lahore's historical landmarks and pointed to Europe's success in preserving centuries-old buildings. He directed authorities to compensate those displaced by anti-encroachment efforts and highlighted the importance of preserving national heritage. The CM approved a proposal to restore Lahore's iconic gates and discussed plans to restore other historical places, including the Blue Dome, Circular Road, and gardens.
The restoration efforts aim to bring Lahore's historic sites back to their original grandeur, and the authorities are working to remove obstacles around the Circular Road and historical gates. With the support of Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab Chief Minister, the city's cultural heritage is expected to be preserved for future generations.
