Pakistan Under Heat Wave Warning
The heat wave is expected to affect most parts of the country, with temperatures soaring above average levels, and residents are advised to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, with some relief expected from the westerly weather system on May 19-20.

A heat wave warning has been issued for most parts of Pakistan, with temperatures predicted to soar above average levels from May 15 to 20, driven by a high-pressure system and persistent continental air.
The Northern and central regions of Pakistan will experience daytime temperatures 5-7°C above seasonal averages, while southern regions will see temperatures 4-6°C above normal. Cities such as Dadu, Jacobabad, and Sibbi have already recorded temperatures above 45°C, with forecasts indicating no immediate relief.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted a heatwave in the country from May 15 to May 19, with the temperature expected to be 4-6°C above normal in Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan, and 5-7°C above normal in upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heatstroke.
A westerly weather system is expected to bring rain, wind, and thunderstorms to the upper parts of the country on May 19-20, which may provide some relief from the heat wave. The PMD has advised citizens to take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward situation.
The heat wave warning has raised concerns about the impact of extreme weather conditions on public health and safety. Citizens are urged to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period.
