Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the expansion of Murree's Mall Road, a project estimated to cost Rs 550 million, aiming to restore the historical beauty of the area without compromising on quality, with completion expected within a year.

The "Beautification and Facade Uplifting of Mall Road Murree" project, worth Rs 554.88 million, will be supervised by the Walled City Authority Lahore and is set to revitalize the area for the tourism industry. The project includes beautifying and uplifting the facade of buildings, resurfacing streets, rehabilitating sitting areas, and improving the electrical supply structure along the 700-meter-long Mall Road Murree. This initiative aims to enhance the appeal and attractiveness of the site by cladding facades of buildings, surfacing streets with pavers, and revamping public areas.

Mall Road Murree holds historical and cultural significance, dating back to 1857, and is a key tourist attraction in the region. The WCLA aims to preserve the area's heritage while promoting sustainable development, creating a harmonious blend of the past and present. The project is part of the Murree Tourism Development Plan, which also includes the Glass Train project and the construction of a modern hospital.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has been appointed as the head of the steering committee for the Murree Development Project. The project aims to restore historical footpaths, improve cleanliness, and provide maximum facilities for tourists, ultimately reviving the town's tourism glory after 167 years.

With the project's completion expected by June 2026, the revitalized Mall Road Murree is poised to become a model destination for tourism, showcasing the region's rich history and cultural heritage while providing a unique experience for visitors.
