Time Table of Ramadan 2025: Bank Holidays and Zakat Deductions
The Zakat Nisab for 2025 is set at Rs179,689, and individuals with a credit balance of this amount or more will have Zakat deducted from their accounts on the first day of Ramadan, with the deducted amount going towards supporting those in need, and the new office timings and public dealing hours will facilitate the banking operations during the holy month.

Banks and financial institutions will observe a Bank Holiday on March 3, 2025, to facilitate Zakat deductions, with employees attending office but suspending public dealings, as the State Bank of Pakistan sets the Nisab for Zakat at Rs179,689 for the Zakat Year 1445-46 A.H.
The Zakat deduction will be made from accounts with a credit balance of Rs179,689 or more on the first day of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak, 1446 A.H., which falls on March 1 or 2, 2025. This decision is in line with the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance of 1980, and current accounts will remain exempt from the deduction. The Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety has announced the Zakat deduction on bank accounts for Ramadan 2025, emphasizing the importance of this obligatory charity.
In addition to the Zakat deductions, the State Bank of Pakistan has also announced new office timings for the month of Ramzan. The office hours for SBP will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM from Monday to Thursday and from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Fridays. Public dealing hours at banks will also be adjusted, with hours from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM from Monday to Thursday and from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Fridays.
The Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council has emphasized the importance of paying Fitrana, an obligatory charity, before the end of Ramadan, with a minimum of Rs220 per person based on wheat, and varying amounts for other food items. The payment of Fitrana and Fidya should be made in accordance with one's financial ability, highlighting the significance of this charitable act during the holy month of Ramadan.
As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, it is essential for individuals to be aware of the Zakat deductions, new office timings, and the importance of paying Fitrana and Fidya, ensuring a smooth and charitable experience during this blessed time.
