Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Urs Begins Amid Tight Security

The 773rd Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar has commenced in Sehwan, with Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar directing the police to take extraordinary security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful event for the large number of devotees expected to attend from across the country.
Acting Sindh Governor and Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah inaugurated the celebrations, laying a floral wreath on the shrine and seeking blessings for the country, nation, and Sindh. The event has seen an increase in devotees, with the acting governor expressing hope for a peaceful celebration. The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on February 19 to commemorate the Urs, and all government and semi-government offices, as well as educational institutions, will be closed on this occasion.
The culture department has organized various events, including folk music, a sughar katchery, and a handicrafts exhibition at the Sehwan library, showcasing Sindhi handicrafts, earthen and wooden products, and embroidery. Stalls promoting Sindhi literature and malakhro wrestling contests have also been set up. Seasoned sughars, including Ajab Gul Bhatti, are participating in the event, adding to the festive atmosphere.
