The warning covers areas from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai and from Matara to Pottuvil, where winds of up to 60-70 kmph are expected.

The Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-western provinces, as well as the Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle, and Matara districts, are likely to experience heavy showers of around 100mm. Strong winds of up to 60kmph can be expected in several provinces, prompting warnings for the public to take precautions against damage from temporary localized strong winds. The naval and fishing communities have been advised not to venture into the warned areas until further notice.

The Disaster Management Centre has warned of wind speeds of 50-60 kmph in the western slopes of the central hills and in several provinces, including Trincomalee. The public is advised to remain alert, take precautions, and stay updated on weather alerts, with assistance available through the 117 emergency hotline. A strong wind advisory has been issued for several parts of Sri Lanka, effective June 15, 2025.

The public is urged to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of adverse weather conditions. The Department of Meteorology and the Disaster Management Centre will continue to monitor the weather situation and provide updates as necessary.
