The South-West monsoon has established over the island, bringing showers or thundershowers to several provinces, including Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, and Central provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts. Strong winds and lightning are possible during thundershowers, especially in Western slopes of central hills and in Northern, North-central, North-western, and Southern provinces and Trincomalee district.

A severe lightning warning has been issued for Uva and Eastern provinces, Hambantota and Polonnaruwa districts, with thundershowers accompanied by lightning expected, along with temporary strong winds. Showers or thundershowers are also expected in Uva province, Ampara, and Batticaloa districts during the evening or night. Strong winds of 30-40 kmph are expected in Western slopes of central hills and Northern, North-central, North-western, and Southern provinces, Trincomalee district.
