Microsoft is releasing a remastered version of Gears of War, called Gears of War: Reloaded, on August 26 for Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, featuring improved visuals and audio, cross-play and cross-progression, and all DLC from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC through Xbox Game Pass, and will also be released on PlayStation 5, marking a significant shift in Microsoft's exclusivity policy. This move aims to revitalize the franchise and cater to both old and new generations of players, with the 20th anniversary of the series approaching in 2026.

Gears of War: Reloaded will support 2-player co-op in campaign mode and up to 8 players in versus multiplayer mode, with cross-play across all platforms. The game will also feature 4K resolution, 60 FPS in campaign mode, and 120 FPS in multiplayer mode, as well as HDR, Dolby Vision, and 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Players who purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to Gears of War: Reloaded.
