The highly anticipated game Gears of War: Reloaded is set to release on PS5 in August 2025, marking a significant milestone for Xbox as it expands its gaming platform. A multiplayer beta for the game will be available next weekend, allowing players to experience Team Deathmatch and King of the Hill modes on classic and new maps.

Gears of War: Reloaded will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on August 26th, 2025, featuring 4K resolution, up to 120 FPS support, and modernized multiplayer with cross-play and cross-progression. The game will also be available day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with pre-orders granting access to an exclusive multiplayer beta and character skins.

However, it's been announced that Gears of War: Reloaded will not be released on PS5 in Japan due to regional rating restrictions and platform policies. The game's violent content may not meet Japan's CERO rating standards, leading Microsoft to opt for an IARC 18+ rating instead, allowing the game to be released on other platforms in Japan.

The release of Gears of War: Reloaded is part of a larger effort by Xbox to bring its games to more platforms, with a new entry in the series, Gears of War: E-Day, scheduled for 2026. Xbox chief Phil Spencer has also teased other upcoming games, including "the next Forza" and a Halo Combat Evolved remaster, during the Xbox showcase.
