The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has denied rumors that new currency notes will not be issued for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, confirming that it will continue its tradition of providing new notes to commercial banks on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.

The central bank has already provided new currency notes worth Rs 27 billion to over 17,000 commercial bank branches during Ramadan. To ensure smooth distribution, the SBP has made arrangements to provide cash through ATM networks of banks and deployed cash monitoring teams to guarantee availability of new notes at all commercial bank branches.

Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 is expected to fall on March 31, 2025, with the final decision on moon sighting to be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. The State Bank of Pakistan has assured the public that new currency notes are available ahead of Eidul Fitr, with Rs27 billion worth of notes supplied to 17,000 bank branches this month.

Commercial banks will continue to distribute new notes, and ATMs will dispense clean and standard notes. The Eidul Fitr holiday is expected to be observed from March 31 to April 6, with many anticipating a longer break. The government may announce a five-day official holiday, potentially extending the holiday period to nine days.

The SBP's efforts to ensure the availability of fresh notes for Eid 2025 demonstrate its commitment to meeting the public's demand for new currency during the festive season. With the distribution of Rs 27 billion in new currency notes to commercial banks across the country, the SBP has taken a significant step towards facilitating the public's access to fresh notes.
