Today's Weather Brings Rain, Snow, and Heat Across Asia
The pre-monsoon season in Nepal and the start of summer in Thailand have brought varying weather conditions, from rain and snow to extreme heat, affecting daily life and activities in both countries, with residents and authorities taking measures to mitigate the impacts of the changing weather patterns.
The pre-monsoon season has commenced with widespread rain and snowfall across the country, particularly in high mountainous districts, while Thailand has officially entered summer with extreme heat warnings issued for several provinces.
In Nepal, the last day of winter saw rainfall and snowfall in many parts of the country, with Kalikot's Nagma station recording the highest rainfall at 34 mm. Various high mountain areas received heavy snowfall, stranding passengers on the Mid-hill highway and affecting the Manaslu trekking route. The Armed Police Force (APF) of Nepal cleared snow at the Border Outpost in Samdo, northern Gorkha, after heavy snowfall blanketed the area.
In contrast, Thailand has declared the start of summer, which will last until mid-May, with temperatures expected to rise and extreme heat warnings issued for central and northeastern provinces. The public is advised to avoid prolonged outdoor activities during this period, with Bangkok and its metropolitan area expected to experience hot weather with a 10% chance of rain.
The significant changes in today's weather across Asia serve as a reminder of the region's diverse climate and the importance of being prepared for extreme weather conditions. As the seasons continue to shift, it is crucial for residents and tourists alike to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the latest weather updates.
