Ramadan 2025: Sadqa-e-Fitr, Fidya Rates Announced
The prescribed rates for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya are based on the staple diet and vary according to the type of commodity, with the aim of ensuring that the obligatory charitable donation is paid according to one's financial capacity, ultimately benefiting the underprivileged individuals in the community.

The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has announced the prescribed rates for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya for 2025, with a minimum amount of Rs220 per person, varying based on different commodities such as wheat, barley, dates, and dried grapes.
According to CII Chairman Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi, the rates for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya are obligatory for every Muslim who possesses the means to pay, regardless of age, sex, or social status. The rates are as follows: wheat-based diet at Rs220, barley at Rs450, dates at Rs1650, raisins at Rs2500, and dried grapes at Rs5000. Individuals consuming government-subsidised wheat flour can pay Rs160 as Sadqa-i-Fitr or Fidya.
The compensation for those who cannot observe all 30 fasts is also specified, ranging from Rs6600 for wheat to Rs150,000 for dried grapes. Dr Naeemi urged affluent individuals to pay according to their financial capacity and encouraged people to pay in accordance with their financial standing to benefit a larger number of underprivileged individuals. The prescribed weight for different items is as follows: wheat (half Sa'a or approximately 2kg), barley, dates, and dried grapes (one Sa'a or approximately 4kg).
The CII chairman also clarified the Kaffara (atonement) for those who intentionally break a fast, which is either fasting for 60 consecutive days or feeding 60 needy individuals two meals a day. The announcement is expected to provide guidance to Muslims in Pakistan during the upcoming Ramadan 2025.
